Have you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall at a Mother Blessing, where women sit in a ceremony circle and share deeply from their lives?

This unique hybrid project provides insight into womanhood, spirituality, birth, and generational transformation. Originally a memoir about an alternative baby shower, it expanded into a comprehensive exploration of the Mother Blessing and Blessingway tradition.

It features first-person accounts of pregnancy and birth, and parenting and mothering wisdom letters.
Including the author's experiences, research, letters, and art from diverse women, the book touches on transformative experiences like miscarriage, infant loss, and adoption. There is even a "motherless blessing" from the perspective of a growing number of women who are not mothers by choice or circumstance.

The Foreword by Raven Lang, one of the grandmothers of the midwifery movement, and the Afterword--a moving letter by Ava Võsu another prominent voice (and the author's midwife for her second child) bookend this project, getting to the very heart of what midwifery is about: by tending to the birthing mother, we have the possibility of healing the past and tending the future.

The invitation of this book is for the personal to become universal -- where you as the reader can't help but reflect on our culture's handling of pregnancy and birth -- an invitation to reflect on the choices we have (or don't have) and the meaning we make. You are invited into the Mother Blessing.
